The Global Consulting Partnership: Company Overview

 

The Global Consulting Partnership™ (TGCP) is a closely affiliated network of 250 entrepreneurial consultancies.  Dr. Openshaw is a Principal in The Global Consulting Partnership.  Each of the consultancies has been spawned by Brenner Consulting Group (BCG) and its groundbreaking Career Transformation System Toolbox.  Dr. Mark Brenner, founder of BCG, has mentored in turn each founder of each of the network’s consultancies.   

As a result, the Vision, Mission, Core Values, methodologies, instrumentation, and business development strategies of each of the Principals in TGCP are consistent and similarly integrative.  As a group of consultants, we all come from similar professional backgrounds, have common competencies, are all highly credentialed, hold many professional values in common, and now—as a result of the intensive and comprehensive apprenticeship provided by the Career Transformation System Toolbox—we all take a common approach to a set of 17 Coaching applications for business environments.

Each of our 250 Principals has thousands of hours of graduate training (90% have Ph.D.’s) and many more thousands of hours of field experience working one-on-one with individuals to help them shape and change their behavior, optimize their performance at work, and lead enriched personal lives.   

The Partnership was created and is mentored by Mark Brenner, Ph.D., who has led a consultancy of his own since 1981, conducting over 30,000 hours of consulting assignments with Fortune 500 companies, international consulting firms, prestigious professional service firms, and entrepreneurial start-ups.   

 

Business History: Brenner Consulting Group  1981-2000

 

TGCP’s parent organization, Brenner Consulting Group, is a firm that has been developing leaders and organizations for 20 years.  BCG is known for its outside-the-box methodologies and tools:

The firm was a pioneer in developing and implementing Derailment Prevention Coaching in 1982.

The firm also pioneered the use of coaching in professional service firms - professionals have highly specialized needs and are often the most demanding consumers of coaching services.

As early as 1985, the firm was using computer-based instruments to measure and develop leadership competencies and leadership styles—these tools are still recognized as best-of-class.

BCG began using 360° (multi-rater) instruments in 1987 and implemented computerized 360° technology in 1989.

Our firm is known for the psychometric rigor that underlies its assessment tools.  Even our Organizational Effectiveness Survey is psychometrically derived and validated, which allows it to prescribe highly targeted action strategies.  (Very few organizational surveys use psychometric techniques for either item development or for scale development.)

The firm has developed a Help-Desk Model of Executive Coaching, allowing an executive, manager, or professional to access the Coach on a as needed basis.

When the firm conducts Organizational Audits, we use a combination of confidential interviewing techniques and our organizational survey.  Together, this method generates rich, motivationally powerful, and actionable findings.

We treat Succession Planning as a management assessment process and as a developmental process, with an eye to the long-term.

The firm uses expert computerized testing systems that are internet-based for Pre-Employment Selection and for all Coaching work.
